    NOTES

Your Ultimate Guide to Catching Bass, Crappie, and Catfish This June

Lake Allatoona Managed Hunting Area - Cherokee, GA

Lake Allatoona is currently offering great fishing conditions, with water temperatures between 74°F and 80°F and clear water visibility up to 5 feet. Early mornings and late evenings are the best times to fish right now.

🎣 Bass Fishing Bass are active and feeding mostly on shad. Main-lake points are holding good numbers of bass, and brush piles will become key spots as the month progresses. Using a jig, jerkbait, and jig-head minnow works well. On overcast days, jerkbaits and jig-head minnows excel, while sunny days favor jigs in brush areas. There’s also a solid topwater bite early in the day.

🐟 Striped & Hybrid Bass The summer pattern is underway for striped and hybrid bass. Live bait like shiners is most effective, especially around main-lake points and humps near creek mouths at the south end of the lake. Evening fishing at the dam and Kellogg flats is productive, with trolling umbrella rigs near Tanyard Creek producing good results.

🎯 Crappie Fishing Crappie are moving into deeper summer habitats. Focus on brush piles in 16 to 22 feet of water, with tops between 12 to 15 feet. Spider rigging with 12-foot rods and Carolina rigs works best, especially around 15 to 18 feet. Early June may still see some crappie in shallower brush, but deeper fishing is becoming the norm.

🐱 Catfish Catfish are active lake-wide, especially in shallower water during the evening hours. Using cut bait or live bait near drop-offs and submerged structures often leads to good catches.

🌤️ Weather Outlook Expect humid conditions with intermittent afternoon thunderstorms this week. Early morning or late evening trips are recommended to avoid peak heat and storms.

🛶 Tips for Anglers Fish early mornings and late evenings for the best action.

Carry extra live bait, especially shiners, for striped and hybrid bass.

Focus on deeper brush piles for crappie as the month progresses.

Monitor weather closely and be prepared for afternoon storms.

Whether targeting bass, crappie, or catfish, Allatoona Lake is providing excellent opportunities this June. Proper timing and preparation will help anglers make the most of their outings.
